RHS Chelsea 2020
Published: 4th February 2020
It's a privilege to be working again with CCLA, who are supporting the SSAFA show garden at RHS Chelsea this year in the Urban Garden catagory. The Chelsea show is a matter of days after one of the most significant anniversaries in modern British history; VE Day 75th - 8th May 2020. During WW2, SSAFA provided care for the families at home so those fighting overseas could devote themselves to their duty.
SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person, and they are there for that person at any time, in any way and for as long as they require that support. https://www.ssafa.org.uk
Norton House offers free, safe and supportive accommodation to families and friends whose loved ones are receiving treatment at the nearby Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Nottinghamshire. The house also provides a haven for those being treated, to allow them a break from the hospital environment.
The modular building of this RHS Chelsea show garden will enable an efficient transfer from the show into a pre-designed space at SSAFA's Norton House, thus completing the final part of the design and landscaping around the house. It will offer a peaceful space for relaxation and enjoyment for friends, families, patients and staff of Norton House.
CCLA is one of the largest fund managers for charities in the UK, and have sponsored SSAFA over many years. They have hundreds of benevolent societies as clients, a large proportion of them supporting our armed forces and their families. CCLA has always wanted to have a presence at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, building on the success of sponsored gardens at RHS Hampton Court Palace and RHS Chatsworth. https://www.ccla.co.uk/home
